3.2.3 Removal and re-fitment of the Seat floor attachment base
Removal
Removal and re-fitment of the seat floor attachment base can result in serious personal injury. Extreme care must be taken while removing and refitting it. The quick release pin needs to be fitted to the original position when the base is refitted. Failure to do so will result in the whole seat assembly sliding out of its moorings since it is no longer secured and locked by the pin.
Removal

1. Pull and remove the quick release pin from the base attachment as shown in Figure 3.Store it in a safe place since the base cannot be refitted back to the van without the pin.Refer warning above.

2. Grip the front and rear rods and slide the base attachment backwards until the rear bolt head lines up with the big opening in the key slot. If the base does not move easily, lightly tap on the rod backwards with a hammer until it slides. Fig. 5 shows the location of the rear bolt in the locked position. Fig.6 shows the base after it has been slid back. Note the bolt head is centered at the bigger slot end.

3. Lift the base off the van floor. Figure 8 shows the van floor with the bases removed.

Refitting the base

Follow these directions in reverse. Note that the bases are handed and won’t fit if the right hand and left hand bases are interchanged.

1. Line up the base with claw in the base approx 2” behind the hook on the van and move the base forward so that the claw engages the hook. See Figure 9.

2. Manoeuvre the base until the slots in the base line up with the front bolts as shown in Figure 10. Slide the base forward until all 3 bolts engage the slots. Ensure that the base is in its forward most position and the 3 mounting bolts are fully inside their respective slots. The quick release pin will not lock unless this is done.

3. Insert pin all the way (till the pull ring) inside the hole in the base and the claw until it clicks in place and resistance can be felt when trying to pull it out. Figure 11 shows the base attachment in its locked position.
