1. In the case of VW Routan, the head rest needs to be removed from the back rest in order to flip the seat.

To do this, depress the tab on top of the back rest and lift the head rest up and remove it as shown in Figure 1 and 2.

For the Routan, the head rest need to be lowered but does not have to be removed from the back rest. To lower the head rest, press the tab and push the head rest down all the way.

2. Fold the backrest down on to the seat by following instructions outlined in section 3.2.1, Step 1, Figure 1 to 4.

3. Locate the seat release belt at the back of the seat as shown.

Pull on the belt in an upward and outward direction until the rear latches are released from the rod on the base attachment. Lift the rear end of the seat. Flip the seat forward completely until the front latches lock on to the base. Rock the seat too and fro to ensure that it is securely locked in position. Refer figure 4-7.

Flipping back

1. Grab the rubber sleeve on the wire rope assembly. The wire rope assembly can be accessed from the rear. Pull on it as shown in Figure 8 and 9, until the front latches are released.

2. Let go off the rope assembly and firmly push the seat back and down until the rear latches lock on to the rear rod on the base attachment. Ensure that it is locked in position.
